The Provincial Council of Zaragoza has launched a new call for its prestigious plastic arts scholarship, offering young artists the opportunity to reside for a full academic year at the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid. With a financial grant of €25,000, this scholarship aims to promote the artistic talent of the province of Zaragoza.
Details of the Scholarship and Requirements
The scholarship, which covers a full academic year, is aimed at visual and plastic artists born or registered in the province of Zaragoza. Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years old before December 31, 2026. In the case of being registered, a minimum of one year of residence prior to the publication of the call is required. The Casa de Velázquez, the headquarters of the French Academy in Madrid, will be the place where selected individuals can develop their creativity in an international environment.
To participate, candidates must submit an explanatory report of their artistic project. A jury will evaluate the applications based on artistic quality, project coherence, and level of innovation and originality. The deadline for submitting applications is April 18.
A Historic Connection with the Casa de Velázquez
The collaboration between the Provincial Council of Zaragoza and the Casa de Velázquez dates back nearly 40 years, solidifying as a pillar in support of art and culture. Since Pepe Cerdá was the first grantee in 1989, numerous artists such as Antón Jodrá, Roberto Coromina, and Gema Rupérez have undergone this enriching experience. The Casa de Velázquez, known for hosting around fifteen artists each year, offers a space for cultural exchange in disciplines such as architecture, film, musical composition, photography, and video.
