On April 23rd, Zaragoza will celebrate its Book Day with a significant increase in the number of exhibitors and authors, solidifying the event as a cultural benchmark in the city and demonstrating the dynamism of the publishing sector.
Significant Expansion of Book Day in Zaragoza
For 2025, the Book Day in Zaragoza will see a notable expansion both in the number of participants and in the areas of celebration. This edition will feature 117 exhibitors and 450 authors, figures that surpass those of the previous year and reflect significant growth in the scale of the event. This expansion is also reflected in the infrastructure, with the occupation of 157 arches and 20 additional spaces that have been created to meet the high demand.
The event will be spread across several iconic locations in the city. The Paseo de la Independencia will serve as the central hub of the event. Likewise, Plaza de Aragón and Plaza de Santa Engracia will also act as venues, with these last two being usual expansions aimed at accommodating the growing number of stands and scheduled activities.
The Councilor for Culture, Education, and Tourism of the Zaragoza City Council, Sara Fernández, has emphasized “the collaboration between institutions for the organization of Book Day, a festive event that is already one of the most relevant, and we are delighted to support this celebration of literature once again, in which record figures are being registered”.
The Director of Culture of the Government of Aragón, Pedro Olloqui, has highlighted that Aragonese culture is going through “a stage of splendor and especially brilliance in the world of literature”. Book Day “is an extremely important occasion to showcase the brilliance of Aragonese letters, because it connects authors, booksellers, publishers, and readers”, in a day of togetherness where Aragonese people “turn to books”.
Institutional support plays a crucial role in the realization of this literary event. The Government of Aragón, the Zaragoza City Council, and the Provincial Council of Zaragoza collaborate in the organization, highlighting the significance of this festival for regional culture and its impact on promoting reading and supporting the book sector.
The continuous increase in the number of applications from exhibitors and authors to participate in Book Day reflects the good moment that the literary sector in Aragón is experiencing. This positive trend promises a more successful and wider-reaching celebration each year.
