D.O. Cariñena Shines at Madrid Fusión with Garnacha Tastings

The Cariñena Denomination of Origin has reinforced its presence in the international gastronomic landscape by participating in the 24th edition of Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España. During the event, held from January 26 to 28, 2026, the D.O. Cariñena showcased a program of tastings that highlighted the uniqueness of its wines, particularly those made from garnacha.

Strategic Presence in Multiple Spaces

The D.O. Cariñena maximized its participation in Madrid Fusión by being present in several key spaces. From the Saborea España stand, located in the area of Zaragoza, World Capital of Garnacha, to the VIP Corner and the stand of the Government of Aragon, the presence of Cariñena was notable. Additionally, participation in the Gala Dinner at the Real Casa de Correos underscored the importance of Aragon as the invited community and Zaragoza as one of the 17 highlighted gastronomic destinations of 2026.

Representation of Wineries and Notable Activities

Five emblematic wineries represented the Denomination of Origin: Grandes Vinos, Libre y Salvaje (Ignacio Marín), Luis Marín, Paniza, and San Valero. These wineries presented wines from the Garnacha Nueva de Cariñena range and the line «Los Vinos que Nacen de las Piedras.» As part of Saborea España, an exclusive tasting titled «Three Expressions of the Garnacha of Cariñena, Zaragoza,» led by Javier Domeque from Bodegas San Valero, brought together 12 selected attendees.

Moreover, the Zaragoza Tourism stand offered tastings of six wines accompanied by tapas throughout the day, allowing attendees to experience the richness of the region’s wines.

Unique Events and President’s Assessment

The participation of D.O. Cariñena in prominent events included a gala dinner with 400 guests at the Real Casa de Correos, a lunch at the VIP Corner with renowned chefs, and a paired tasting led by Master of Wine Fernando Mora. This last event, held at The Wine Edition, featured dishes by chef Tonino Valiente from the Michelin-starred restaurant Tatu Bistro.

Antonio Serrano, president of D.O. Cariñena, positively assessed the participation in Madrid Fusión, highlighting that «The Wines that Come from the Stones have had one of the best showcases this year to continue showcasing our uniqueness at a national and international level, promoting innovative projects such as the Garnacha Nueva de Cariñena range, and establishing new business relationships.»
