Huescómic Celebrates Its XIII Edition with Seven Guest Authors and Reflections on Artificial Intelligence
The comic day in Huesca will take place on September 13 at the Centro Cultural Manuel Benito Moliner, with activities from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. This thirteenth edition is presented as the most ambitious to date, organized by the Huesca City Council in collaboration with Viñetario.
The event will bring together seven guest authors covering various genres and themes: Irene Márquez, Mamen Moreu, David Sancho, Alba Cardona, Joan C., Sara Soler, and Josemi Online. Other creators such as Aroha Travé, Rosa Codina, David López, Álvaro Ortiz, José Antonio Bernal, and Javier Marquina will also participate.
Humor and everyday genre will take center stage with the contributors from El Jueves, Irene Márquez and Mamen Moreu, who will offer a joint talk on their view of graphic humor. Márquez will present her recent work The Death (of Irene Márquez) (Autsaider Cómics), while Moreu has just released Dolores and Lolo. End of the Party (Astiberri).
Spanish manga will be represented by Alba Cardona and Joan C., two successful authors who have addressed hearing disability in their respective works The Legend of Hakutaku (ECC) and Okaasan (Norma), combining action and personal overcoming.
David Sancho, winner of the XVII International Graphic Novel Award FNAC/Salamandra Graphic with Barbecho, will discuss depopulation in Teruel alongside historian Sescún Marías. The event will close with Josemi Online, who will showcase animations based on his Instagram strips.
Complementary Activities
Pre-event: On Friday the 12th at 6:30 PM at the Biblioteca Ramón J. Sender, the exhibition Comic Authors Against Generative AI will be inaugurated, followed by a talk by Sara Soler titled Can Generative AI End Comics?.
Commemorative comic: Chema Cebolla once again signs the free and limited comic, reinterpreting the history of Alto Aragón by turning the scientist Miguel Servet into a bird detective.
Exhibitions: Three exhibitions will be inaugurated on Saturday the 13th at 11:30 AM: Chema Cebolla’s comic, the collective The Ideal City: Imagining the Future in Panels (in collaboration with The City of Children), and Mission 1: Take Off, which presents the artistic universe of Karalang Fatty and Fabrice Ilboudo.
