EDAF’s new releases for July 2026 stand out for their focus on history, philosophy, and spirituality, offering a diversity of cultural and academic perspectives. Three works are presented as the major highlights of the month, each with a distinctive and enriching approach.
The Historical Figure of Bernardo de Gálvez
The book «Bernardo de Gálvez,» by Miguel del Rey and Carlos Canales, provides a detailed analysis of the Spanish governor of Louisiana during the American Revolutionary War. The work seeks to balance between forgetfulness and heroic myth-making, presenting a biography that spans from his beginnings in New Spain to his death in the viceroyalty. Gálvez is advocated as a notable military and political figure who defended Spain’s interests, placing him in the appropriate historical context. This revised and updated edition coincides with the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Authors Carlos Canales and Miguel del Rey are recognized for their extensive career in historical research. Canales, in addition to being a writer, is a lawyer and illustrator, while Del Rey is a member of associations dedicated to modern history. Together, they have published more than forty works and have been awarded the IX Premio Algaba.
