The Counselor of Education, Culture, and Sports of the Government of Aragon, Tomasa Hernández, has officially inaugurated the new school year 2025/2026 at the CPI Parque Venecia in Zaragoza. The return to the classrooms affects a total of 153,638 students in Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education across the Autonomous Community.
The school year began for students in Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education, while the students in Baccalaureate will start on Wednesday, September 10, and those in Vocational Training on Thursday, September 11. Notably, 8,845 children entering first grade of Early Childhood Education are integrating into the Aragonese education system for the first time, along with their families.
The Government of Aragon has significantly increased the educational staff provision, reaching historic highs with 400 additional teachers and improved working conditions, despite the progressive decline in enrollment. The system also includes over 800 special education assistants and healthcare professionals to ensure educational inclusion and attention to diversity.
The educational offer has been expanded with 24 new TEA classrooms, 11 special education classrooms, and 8 early childhood education classrooms (0-3 years), particularly aimed at the Aragonese territory. The commitment to rural education remains strong with over 70 schools and 120 vocational training cycles operating with fewer than 10 students.
Investments in Educational Infrastructure
The Department of Education allocates over 32 million euros to improve educational infrastructure in the three Aragonese provinces, despite the current budget extension.
The CPI Parque Venecia, where the inaugural ceremony took place, exemplifies this investment policy with an allocation of 7.5 million euros in the past two academic years for over 1,100 students. Last year, the first phase of the Secondary Education building was inaugurated with 8 units, and the works for the second phase are currently underway, which will add another 8 units with an investment of 3.6 million euros. The company Mariano López Navarro is carrying out the work, which will complete the center by September 2026.
Anticipating neighborhood growth, a modular building will be installed next to the CEIP María Zambrano, featuring 8 classrooms, a teachers’ room, and restrooms, operational from the 2026/2027 school year, with an investment of over one million euros. For the first time, these prefabricated modules will be acquired for reuse in other educational centers.
Characteristics of CPI Parque Venecia
The center, which began operations in the 2018/2019 academic year, currently accommodates over 1,100 students distributed across 46 groups of Early Childhood, Primary, and ESO. It functions as a preferential TEA support center and a bilingual center within the BRIT program, participating in the reinforcement program Aúna, the Open for Holidays initiative, and developing projects related to gardens and school radio. It is recognized as a health-promoting school and has two counselors due to its large number of students.
