European Union ambassadors have visited the Walqa technology park in Huesca to learn about its business growth and the economic ecosystem linked to the arrival of data centers in Aragon. The site is currently home to 90 companies and employs more than 900 people.
Walqa showcases its business growth in Huesca to the European delegation
The European delegation toured Walqa during its visit to Aragon, accompanied by the regional minister for Economy, Competitiveness and Employment, Eva Valle; the mayor of Huesca, Lorena Orduna; and the park’s managing director, Carlos Ortas.
The visit included the Aragon Gastronomic Innovation Center, located in the Huesca technology park, and the facilities of Podoactiva, one of the companies based at Walqa. The tour gave European representatives an insight into some of the business and innovation activity concentrated at the technology hub.
Data centers boost Aragon’s economic ecosystem
Eva Valle said the visit had enabled the ambassadors to “see firsthand the momentum of the Aragonese economy and the ecosystem created by the arrival of data centers.”
Walqa’s growth is part of this recent evolution of Aragon’s economic fabric. The technology park has gained prominence as a location for business investment, with activity linked both to companies based at the site and to innovation initiatives developed in Huesca.
Walqa grows from 51 to 90 companies since 2022
Since 2022, Walqa has grown from hosting 51 companies to its current 90. Employment has also increased: the park now employs more than 900 people, following growth of 66% in just four years.
These figures position the Huesca technology park as one of the examples of Aragon’s development presented during the European Union delegation’s visit, alongside the role of companies such as Podoactiva and the Aragon Gastronomic Innovation Center.
