The MagnIA Exhibition Draws 500 Visitors in Teruel 2023

MagnIA Exhibition Concludes Successful Tour of Teruel with 500 Visitors

The exhibition «MagnIA: The Untold Story» concluded its first tour in the province of Teruel after nearly three months of traveling, visiting 10 municipalities across different regions. The show, which combined photography, art, and artificial intelligence, covered over 800 km and attracted around 500 visitors, with expectations for a re-edition to continue bringing culture to rural areas.

The tour took place from March 9 to May 24, reaching Crivillén, Samper de Calanda, Valdealgorfa, La Portellada, Villaroya de los Pinares, Alcaine, Bueña, Guadalaviar, Perales del Alfambra, and San Agustín. The municipalities adapted spaces such as the Pablo Serrano Contemporary Art Center (Crivillén) or multi-purpose warehouses (Guadalaviar) to host the exhibition, facilitating access in areas with limited resources.

The exhibition recreated historical figures and rural scenes through photographs generated by artificial intelligence, emulating the style of photojournalists like Robert Capa. Creative writing workshops were conducted by the Ahula association, involving 150 participants of all ages, fostering intergenerational dialogue and reflection on the limits of AI.

Local authorities highlighted the importance of the initiative: Mariano Arbúes (mayor of Guadalaviar) emphasized the lack of cultural alternatives in small towns, while Sofía Espada (secretary of Crivillén) stressed the difficulty of accessing exhibitions without external proposals. The project, driven by the Territorial Innovation Center (CIT) of Teruel, is part of an agreement with the CIUDEN Foundation to promote sustainability and rural artistic heritage under the framework of «The Cultural Recycler.»
