From June 21 to September 14, 2025, the Centro de Historias de Zaragoza presents the exhibition «Origami Bolivia,» a collaboration between the City Council of Zaragoza, the Origami Museum School of Zaragoza (EMOZ), and the Bolivian Origami Society, highlighting the fusion of Japanese art with Andean worldview.
The «Origami Bolivia» exhibition is the first of its kind in Europe to showcase contemporary Bolivian origami works, featuring a total of 44 pieces by eleven Bolivian artists. These works stand out for their connection to Pachamama, reflecting the ancestral mystical relationship with nature. Additionally, indigenous materials such as Andean fibers, bamboo, and cotton are used, all dyed with natural pigments.
Artists and Works
Among the featured artists are Johan Noel Pucho, known for his complex designs, and Javier Rubén Alegría, an international award winner. Ayrton Iván Huanca also stands out for his emotional and volumetric creations. Other participants include Rodrigo Denilzon Saravia, Oliver Asael Flores, Carlos Mirko Huanca, Juan Flores, Richard Rodrigo Larico, Noemí Berríos, and Fernando Chura.
Origami is presented not only as an artistic expression but also as an educational and therapeutic tool. Workshops are organized to aid in developing fine motor skills and concentration in young people, as well as to stimulate memory in older adults. These workshops are also used in emotional interventions and sustainability projects, promoting origami as a cultural bridge that connects indigenous traditions with contemporary knowledge.
In conclusion, «Origami Bolivia» not only celebrates the cultural and artistic diversity of Bolivia but also emphasizes the role of origami in education, therapy, and the preservation of cultural identity and respect for nature.
