Zaragoza became the epicenter of female leadership in Spain with the celebration of the II Meeting of Associations of Women Leaders on September 26, 2025. The event, organized by Directivas de Aragón with the support of the Government of Aragón, brought together more than 20 national and sector-specific associations representing thousands of executives, professionals, and businesswomen from across the country.
The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen alliances among associations and reflect on a key message: without women in positions of power and in strategic sectors, Spain loses competitiveness, innovation, and its future.
Two central challenges on the table
During the event, two priority challenges for the advancement of female leadership were addressed:
-
Greater representation in decision-making bodies: increasing the presence of women in positions of highest responsibility.
-
Promotion of STEAM vocations: fostering interest among new generations in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
Consensus reached among associations
Throughout the working sessions, the participating organizations agreed on several key points:
-
Strategic collaboration: strengthening synergies among associations with common goals.
-
Current overview: the presence of women in decision-making positions remains insufficient in political, business, and social spheres.
-
Shared leadership: men and women must exercise joint leadership to build a more equitable and sustainable society.
-
Innovation and training: it is urgent to promote digitalization, innovation, and specialized training, with a special focus on STEAM areas.
-
Intergenerational commitment: current leaders must act as mentors, open doors, and build support networks for new generations.
Multisectoral representation
Among the participating associations were: Directivas de Aragón, Ellas Vuelan Alto, CIMA, ARAME, FinTech Women Network, AMEDNA, AMEP Cartagena, Women in Retail, the General Council of Economists of Spain, and the Woman Forward Foundation.
These organizations, present throughout the national territory, represent women leaders in key sectors such as economics, technology, industry, retail, and aviation.
A growing leadership network
The II Meeting consolidates the line of work initiated in 2024, strengthening a collaborative network that promotes shared leadership among women and men in Spain, with a clear focus on impact, action, and transformation.
