Zaragoza Expects Record Participation in the Offering of Flowers for Pilar 2025
The Offering of Flowers for Pilar, which will be celebrated on Sunday, October 12, 2025, is expected to reach a new attendance record. A total of 1,158 groups have registered, an increase of 9.35% compared to the previous year, with 106,897 participants, representing an 11.60% increase.
This year, a floral carpet created by the Asociación de Alfombristas do Corpus Christi de Ponteareas (Pontevedra) will be incorporated for the first time. The circular design will be approximately 8 meters in diameter and will be installed between 7:30 and 10:30 AM. The Virgin will pass over this carpet during the procession.
The group ‘Costureras Malotas’ will open the Offering at 6:30 AM. The last groups will depart at 11:30 PM, so the event is expected to conclude close to midnight. The groups will parade along the Paseo de la Independencia and will enter the Plaza del Pilar via Don Jaime or Alfonso I streets.
For individual participation, the time frame extends from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM without prior registration required. Those wishing to participate with pets are recommended to do so between 7:00 and 9:00 AM or between 7:00 and 8:00 PM.
The structure of the Virgin reaches a height of 15.5 meters and weighs 40 tons. It is made up of 6 levels and requires 30 hours to assemble, involving approximately 75 people. The process began on Thursday before 6:00 AM and will conclude on Friday morning.
The structure can accommodate up to 7 million flowers, with a total weight of 54 tons. The image is constructed from fiberglass, weighs 15 kilograms, and measures 1.43 meters, nearly four times the size of the original (36 centimeters). The mantle measures 2.50 meters in height, bringing the total height of the image to 6.70 meters, with a weight of 525 kilograms without flowers.
The mantle will be made of white flowers, and the Cross of Lorraine will be red.
Organization and Personnel
The development of the Offering involves 400 people from Zaragoza Cultural, other municipal services, and security forces. There will be 30 gardeners, 64 gardening assistants, and 175 people helping with the setup and development of the parade. Additionally, there will be around 260 volunteers and personnel from Civil Protection, Red Cross, Fire Department, Local and National Police.
Rules for Participants
Flowers are an essential element, and the use of plastics, artificial floral decorations, or baskets is not allowed. The recommended bouquet is the cane model. Commercial advertising and logos are prohibited from the start of the route, reserved exclusively for collaborating companies of the Fiestas del Pilar and non-profit organizations.
Institutional Events during the Offering
At 11:30 AM, the Municipal Corporation will leave from the Town Hall entrance to attend the mass at 12:00 PM at the Basilica del Pilar. At 9:30 AM, members of the invited country, Peru, will be gathered in Plaza Sas.
