Experience Guara Somontano will implement immersive technologies in three museum spaces with an investment of 113,000 euros
The Tourism Sustainability Plan for the Destination Experience Guara Somontano will introduce augmented and virtual reality at El Moliné de Barbastro, the mill of Buera, and the Chuaquín mill in El Grado. The initiative, funded by the Next Generation funds from the European Union, aims to transform the visitor experience through immersive technology.
The Somontano de Barbastro region has awarded a contract exceeding 113,000 euros, distributing nearly 38,000 euros to each of the three spaces. The regional president Saúl Pérez and the mayors of Barbastro (Fernando Torres), Santa María de Dulcis (Mariano Lisa), and El Grado (Carmen Obis) signed the necessary collaboration agreements to materialize these investments.
Technology and the Visitor Experience
A specialized company will implement augmented and virtual reality technologies tailored to the machinery displayed in each museum space. The goal is for visitors to learn and understand in an engaging way the processes that allowed for grinding wheat and extracting oil from olives, as explained by the regional president.
The three projects will include a virtual assistant powered by artificial intelligence that will answer tourist questions about the area for those visiting these centers.
Objectives and Target Audience
The implementation aims to transform the offerings enjoyed by visitors, enriching the museum experience and strengthening the dissemination of cultural and productive heritage linked to the agricultural traditions of the area. The initiative is particularly aimed at attracting young people, students, and visitors interested in innovative and technological proposals.
This initiative aligns with policies for territorial strengthening and the promotion of sustainable tourism, seeking to generate a new attraction that enhances local identity and invigorates the local economy. The Tourism Sustainability Plan for the Destination Experience Guara Somontano is part of the National Plan for Enogastronomy, framed within the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan financed by the European Union.
