Hernández visits musical educational project at San Gabriel School in Zuera
The Councillor for Education, Culture, and Sport, Tomasa Hernández, visited the San Gabriel School in Zuera on November 21, 2025. The event coincided with the approach of the celebration of Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians. She was accompanied by Luis Mallada, Director General of Planning, Centers, and Vocational Training; Esther Ciudad, head of artistic education; and Ignacio Casajús, Secretary of Catholic Schools.
The project offers individual instrument classes during school hours starting from Primary education, eliminating the need for extracurricular training. The initiative aims to enhance the musical, cognitive, and emotional development of students from the Early Childhood stage.
The school establishes the Simultaneity of Musical Education as a fundamental pillar of the curriculum from Early Childhood to Primary. In Secondary education, the goal is to gradually implement it.
The project is based on scientific evidence demonstrating the connection between musical education and the holistic development of the child. Music is conceived as a key tool in the educational process, going beyond being a curricular complement.
San Gabriel School maintains an extracurricular Music School for students wishing to expand their training with other instruments, such as piano or saxophone, as well as participate in ensembles and combos.
