The Hispanidad School of Zaragoza was declared the winner of the III Scientific School Championship of Aragon, standing out among 16 educational institutions in the region. This event, promoted by the Government of Aragon, took place at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zaragoza and was attended by the Minister of Employment, Science and Universities, Claudia Pérez Forniés.
Competition and Participation
Over ten days, the championship brought together 400 students from 5th and 6th grade of primary education from the provinces of Zaragoza, Huesca, and Teruel. CEIP Hispanidad triumphed in the final against CEIP Monte Oroel of Jaca, demonstrating their ability and talent in a spirit of healthy competition. The participation of these young people not only tested their ingenuity but also their teamwork skills and passion for science.
The diversity of challenges and tests aimed to stimulate interest in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) disciplines from an early age, promoting critical thinking and collaborative work among students.
Promoting Scientific Vocations
Minister Claudia Pérez Forniés highlighted the championship’s goal of awakening scientific vocations among young people, emphasizing the importance of science in daily life and its crucial role in addressing future technological, health, and social challenges. During her speech, Pérez Forniés expressed gratitude for the involvement of students, teachers, and educational institutions in the initiative.
The event was attended by prominent authorities from the scientific and educational fields, such as the General Directors of Science, Pilar Gayán, and Educational Policy, Ana Moracho. Also present were the Vice-Rector for Scientific Policy of the University of Zaragoza, Pilar Pina, and the CSIC delegate in Aragon, María Jesús Lázaro, who supported the importance of fostering scientific interest from a young age with their presence.
