In 2024, the Federation of Hospitality Entrepreneurs of Zaragoza (HORECA) experienced significant growth by surpassing 400 associated establishments and announced the implementation of innovative projects such as an innovation center and a course with Ferran Adrià planned for 2026, highlighted during its annual General Assembly.
Expansion and Key Figures of HORECA in 2024
The year 2024 marked a milestone for HORECA as it reached over 400 members distributed across 291 restaurants and 81 hotels in Zaragoza, along with 37 new establishments in Ejea de los Caballeros. The institution also managed to secure 11 million euros in grants aimed at energy efficiency and trained 1,000 students through its employment exchange.
Innovative and Educational Projects of HORECA
Two major initiatives stand out to strengthen education and innovation in the sector. On one hand, the creation of the Higher Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Hospitality and Tourism of Aragón, supported by the regional government and the city council. On the other hand, by 2026, the opening of an intensive management course in restoration led by Ferran Adrià is anticipated, with priority given to HORECA members.
Challenges and Future Projections for the Hospitality Sector
The assembly also addressed challenges such as unfair competition from food vendors and the need for clear regulations regarding tourist accommodations, alongside an active campaign against no shows. Additionally, HORECA has solidified its reputation through participation and recognition at events such as Madrid Fusión, FITUR, and Taste of Dublin, and will continue promoting Zaragoza as a premier gastronomic and tourism destination.
