The first edition of Ilustra Ejea will be held from April 16 to 19 at the Aquagraria Museum, in the capital of the Cinco Villas. This event will bring together illustrators, designers, writers, and publishers, aiming to strengthen the bond between word and image. Participation is free, although prior registration is required due to limited capacity.
A professional meeting of illustration and design
Ilustra Ejea is conceived as an open professional meeting aimed at illustrators, visual creators, and those interested in editorial illustration, graphic storytelling, and contemporary creation. Notable professionals from the sector will participate in the event, including Alberto Gamón, a recognized illustrator and winner of the Arts and Letters Award from Heraldo de Aragón in 2020, Eduardo Baamonde, an authority in travel sketching and urban sketching, Ernesto Navarro, a professor of illustration, animation, and comics, and Juan Carlos Mestre, a poet and National Poetry Award winner in 2009.
Featured activities and workshops
The Ilustra Ejea program includes a variety of workshops, round tables, and interprofessional meetings. Among the topics to be addressed are urban sketching and the graphic chronicle of the territory, editorial illustration applied to poetry and narrative, editorial design and artificial intelligence, travel journals and heritage, as well as illustration, animation, and comics. Additionally, meetings of the book value chain will be held, promoting collaboration among the different players in the sector.
Event schedule
On Thursday, April 16, the event will begin with a gathering of Urban Sketchers, which will include outdoor activities around the city and a workshop with Alberto Gamón titled «Illustrating the Real: Knowing How to Look, Knowing How to Read.» On Friday, April 17, Eduardo Baamonde will lead a workshop on traditional techniques, followed by the official opening and a conference on reading and illustration in the digital age. The day will conclude with a round table on artificial intelligence and the publishing sector.
Saturday, April 18, will be dedicated to workshops on illustration, animation, and comics with Ernesto Navarro, and a session on editorial illustration with Juan Carlos Mestre. Editorial design and artificial intelligence will also be discussed, culminating in a round table on co-creation among professionals. Sunday, April 19 will focus on editorial design and innovation, an interprofessional meeting of the book value chain, and a final exhibition open to the public.
The final exhibition will showcase the works developed during the meeting, including travel journals, original illustrations, and visual narratives documenting the city, its heritage, and its people. These materials will constitute a graphic archive that could evolve into a future publication, thus concluding an event that promises to be a reference in the field of illustration and design.
