The Aragonese companies Integra Tecnología and DeuSens have successfully completed the first phase of the project ‘Dive into Heritage’ for UNESCO. This initiative presents a revolutionary digital platform that allows virtual exploration of monuments declared World Heritage from any device connected to the Internet.
Development of the collaborative project
After months of intense collaborative work, multidisciplinary teams from both companies worked together with international experts to develop this pioneering platform that redefines access to World Heritage. The project utilizes advanced digital technologies to connect all content already created by UNESCO and expand it through exact 3D replicas enriched with interactive and personalized digital narratives.
Features and content of the platform
The platform, available at https://diveintoheritage.unesco.org, allows users to view and interact with a 3D map of the globe from which they can select different emblematic locations. This first phase includes 14 emblematic locations situated in 9 different countries: Egypt, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon, Libya, Bahrain, Morocco, and Algeria.
Among the locations are highlights such as Memphis and its necropolis – Areas of the pyramids from Giza to Dahshur in Egypt. Users can navigate an interactive timeline that displays historical narratives, uncover architectural secrets through 3D models, discover orientation with cardinal points and the celestial map, as well as explore the role of the pyramids in the burial customs of the pharaohs of Ancient Egypt.
For each location, the user can undertake guided tours or free exploration, as well as view galleries of images, videos, and 3D models owned by UNESCO. The project will continue to grow with periodic updates that will add more locations and interactive content.
Management system and future expansion
The coordinated team from Integra Tecnología and DeuSens, along with professionals from UNESCO, also developed a content management system so that UNESCO itself can independently and autonomously feed the platform with new content, allowing it to expand and enrich the value of this tool and continue its mission of conveying the cultural value of the heritage of humanity.
