Sport has many ways of being measured. Some are counted in kilometers, others in seconds. And the most important, by impact. The 15th edition of La Invernal once again demonstrated this weekend at MotorLand Aragón that running, skating, or simply participating can go far beyond competition.
With a bright Sunday and an unbeatable atmosphere, La Invernal 2026 concluded its most charitable edition to date. Thousands of participants and visitors gathered at the Alcañiz circuit to enjoy a day where sports and social responsibility walked hand in hand. The goal was clear: to allocate the profits to the Sarabastall Foundation, which will promote the construction of a new school in the village of Ghorse, Pakistan, after the previous one was destroyed by flooding.
A circuit transformed into a sports city
The speed circuit of MotorLand was transformed on Sunday into a grand sports stage. Running was one of the main highlights, with events ranging from 5K to the demanding 42-kilometer marathon, including the 10K, the half marathon, and the combined events of the weekend.
In the men’s 5K, Miguel Viñuales emerged victorious, while Sara Dobón was the winner in the women’s category. The 10K crowned Sergio Rodrigo and Cristina Herrero. In the half marathon, Denis Lorda and Elena Rodríguez took victory, and in the flagship 42K event, Alejandro Andrés and Vanesa Martínez crossed the finish line in first position. The combined event, which started on Saturday, confirmed the leadership of Pablo Alejos and María Pilar Prades.
Alongside running, the skating events added speed and spectacle, solidifying a discipline that continues to gain more supporters each year at La Invernal.
Much more than just races
However, La Invernal is not only experienced through running. Throughout the weekend, the circuit’s boxes hosted activities open to all audiences. The road safety circuit from AFPES attracted numerous families, while the large zumba class organized by Energy Dance once again became one of the most participatory moments of the day.
Exhibitions of boxing, muay thai, and jiu-jitsu from the Atenea Boxing Club added intensity to the program, and the final touch was provided by the batucada from Alcabatuk, which closed the edition with rhythm, smiles, and a sense of community.
Sport that leaves a mark
The true legacy of La Invernal 2026 will not remain in Alcañiz. Thanks to the involvement of participants, collaborators, and public and private entities, this edition will contribute to building a new school in an area particularly affected by flooding. It serves as a reminder that sport, when organized with purpose, can also be a tool for international cooperation.
The organization wished to thank the support of institutions, companies, media, and sports federations that have made this fifteenth edition possible. A collective effort that reinforces La Invernal’s positioning as a consolidated sports event and, at the same time, as an example of how to integrate social values into large events.
La Invernal bids farewell until next year with a clear message: running together is always better when the destination is shared.
