Investment of 160 million in Teruel Airport over two years
Jorge Azcón, president of the Government of Aragon, attended the laying of the foundation stone for the second hangar for aircraft painting of the company International Aerospace Coatings (IAC) at Teruel Airport on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. He described this infrastructure as a first-class business ecosystem with around fifteen operational companies that generate employment and territorial value.
Azcón estimated the committed investment in Teruel Airport over the past two years to be approximately 160 million euros, distributed among:
- 60 million from the Airport Consortium (regional government and Teruel City Council)
- 42 million from the Minister of Defense for the Comprehensive Air Training and Mobility Center
- 10 million for the future research laboratory of the ITA
- 30 million in private investment from AIR (Aviation International Recycling) for an aerospace materials recycling center
- 20 million from IAC for the second hangar
Impact on employment and housing
The airport currently generates 850 direct jobs and 1,700 indirect jobs. It is expected to reach and exceed 1,200 workers in the coming years. The president linked this job creation to the need to address the housing crisis, mentioning 106 public housing units on Italy Street, 250 units from the ‘More Housing, Better Employment’ program, and nearly 1,000 units announced in the Las Viñas area.
New hangar of IAC
The second hangar of IAC will be operational in the last quarter of 2026 and will be dedicated to painting large aircraft (wide-body). It will feature advanced technology in paint application and environmental protection, with a capacity for 30 units annually. It will create 70 direct jobs.
IAC is a global leader in aeronautical services with ten facilities in Europe and the United States handling more than 800 projects annually. It has been operating at Teruel Airport since February 2024.
