Javier Rincón reaffirms Government’s commitment to the agricultural sector
During the closing of the VII Regional Congress of UPA Aragón held in Zaragoza, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food of the Government of Aragon, Javier Rincón, reaffirmed institutional support for the primary sector and agricultural organizations. At the same event, José Manuel Roche was re-elected as the Secretary General of UPA Aragón.
In his remarks, Rincón recognized the essential role played by agricultural organizations, describing them as the most important bridge between professionals and administration. The minister stated that keeping a live, sustainable, and profitable farming sector is a shared responsibility, but without strong organizations like UPA, it would simply be impossible. He also expressed his confidence that the collaboration between UPA and the Government of Aragon will continue to be crucial for the progress and innovation of the sector.
Rincón was adamant in his rejection of the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) proposed by Brussels, stating: We will not accept a CAP that penalizes those who work the land. He proposed a fair agricultural policy based on the two traditional pillars and adapted to the reality of our farmers and ranchers, referencing a joint manifesto signed with UPA.
The minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Aragonese Executive through budgetary programs for 2026: one million euros additional for agricultural insurance, 21 million for modernization of irrigation systems, and 18 million in aid to the agri-food industry.
Rincón concluded his remarks by calling for unity among organizations, cooperatives, professionals, and administrations, emphasizing that only collectively can they defend the dignity of agricultural work and the future of the rural world. He underscored that Aragon cannot be understood without its agriculture and livestock.
