Updated schedule of the Jazz & Más cycle – May and season finale
The concert initially scheduled for May 4, featuring the French group Kretzschmar Laffont with Di Piazza Trio, will be replaced by a performance from the Uruguayan drummer based in Madrid, José San Martín 4tet. This quartet proposes a fusion of traditional rhythms from the Southern Cone—such as candombe, samba, or chacarera—with the harmony and structures of contemporary jazz. The result is a proposal that retains popular roots and projects them into new dimensions within jazz fusion. On May 11, The Tremendous Climatizer will take the stage, a quartet consisting of two saxophones, double bass, and drums. This formation, uncommon in jazz history due to the absence of harmonic instruments, favors counterpoint and the development of free and creative musical dialogue. On May 18, it will be the turn of The Pink Gongs, a modern blues trio in organ trio format. The group presents original songs and covers with a vibrant, danceable style that focuses on direct connection with the audience. The May programming will conclude on the 25th with Quiet, the new project of Barcelona-based musician Juan Pablo Balcázar. This is an introspective and personal proposal revolving around the concept of stillness, expressed through original compositions.
The cycle will conclude on June 29 with a performance by Aaron Parks, a prominent pianist in the current jazz scene. Known for his innovative approach and fusion of contemporary jazz with elements of indie rock, Parks will provide a fitting finale to the eighth edition of the festival.
