Mercedes-Benz and Fundación Ibercaja Drive Future Mobility with Silver Arrows Exhibition in Zaragoza

Reiner Hoeps, President of Mercedes-Benz Spain, inaugurates the exhibition «Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. The Spirit of the Silver Arrows» in Zaragoza

The top official of the brand in Iberia visits Mobility City and strengthens the joint commitment with the Fundación Ibercaja for sustainable mobility and the legacy of competition

The “Silver Arrows” have landed at the Zaha Hadid Bridge. This Tuesday, Reiner Hoeps, President of Mercedes-Benz Spain and Head of Mercedes-Benz Iberia, presided over the official opening of the exhibition Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. The Spirit of the Silver Arrows at Mobility City, the platform of the Fundación Ibercaja dedicated to the mobility of the future.

The most iconic vehicles from the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart – true gems of automotive history – are now on display in Zaragoza in a unique exhibition, according to the organizers, which brings together originals from Formula 1, rally, and DTM in one space. The exhibition traces the technological, sporting, and aesthetic evolution of the German brand, with a special focus on Formula 1, and recreates the excitement of the circuits through an immersive setup designed specifically for the iconic bridge designed by Zaha Hadid.

During the institutional visit, Hoeps toured the Zaha Hadid Bridge and learned firsthand about the Fundación Ibercaja project, which has transformed this emblematic site of Expo 2008 into a national reference for sustainable mobility. He was accompanied by the Government Delegate in Aragón, Fernando Beltrán; the General Director of Fundación Ibercaja, José Luis Rodrigo; and the head of Mobility City, Jaime Armengol.

After the tour, a roundtable discussion was held in the auditorium of Mobility City, where Hoeps and Rodrigo discussed the major challenges facing the sector: the mobility of the future, technology, innovation, competition, and especially sustainability and the central role of people. “This exhibition not only celebrates our past in motorsport but reinforces our commitment to the future of mobility,” Hoeps remarked at the event.

Mobility City is celebrating its third anniversary in 2026 with over half a million visitors and nearly 400 activities organized since its opening to the public. The space, returned to the citizens as the first Technology Museum of Mobility of the 21st century, is consolidating itself as a platform for demonstration, learning, and innovation in sustainable mobility, in collaboration with companies from the automotive, telecommunications, energy, and infrastructure sectors, as well as institutions and universities.

Fundación Ibercaja, a private non-profit entity arising from the former Savings Bank of Zaragoza, Aragón, and Rioja, drives the project with its values of commitment, transparency, professionalism, and dynamism, betting on social and cultural innovation in service of the territory.

Reiner Hoeps’ presence in Zaragoza not only highlights the strategic importance of Spain and Portugal for Mercedes-Benz but also underscores the brand’s commitment to initiatives that unite sporting heritage, technological innovation, and environmental responsibility. The Silver Arrows no longer only race on circuits: they now also inspire the path toward the mobility of tomorrow.
