The Vocational Training (FP) in Aragón has reached a new record of applications for the 2026/2027 academic year, totaling 23,907 requests at publicly funded institutions. This historic increase reflects a growing interest in programs that align with the demands of the Aragón labor market, according to an article in Aragón Hoy by Teresa Martín.
Increase in Demand for Vocational Training
The number of applications for FP has risen by 2,190 compared to the previous year, reaching a historic high. Specifically, higher-level training cycles received 11,846 applications, intermediate-level cycles 9,245, and basic-level cycles 2,134. Additionally, specialization courses accounted for 676 applications for higher-level and six for intermediate-level. Luis Mallada, General Director of Planning, Centers, and Vocational Training, emphasized that «FP continues to thrive, with more students opting for this type of education.»
Most Requested Training Cycles
At the basic level, the most requested programs have been Electricity and Electronics, Administrative Services, and Hairdressing and Aesthetics. At the intermediate level, notable programs include Administrative Management Technician, Nursing Auxiliary Care Technician, and Microcomputing and Networks Technician. Meanwhile, at the higher level, the Superior Technician in Administration and Finance cycle leads preferences, followed by Early Childhood Education and others such as Transport and Logistics and Multiplatform Application Development.
New Opportunities and Admission Schedule
For the 2026/2027 academic year, 495 new places and 21 new cycles have been introduced, including basic, intermediate, and higher-level degrees as well as specialization courses. The admission process commenced on July 1, with a schedule that anticipates the publication of the final lists on July 24 and the initiation of the late application process on September 17. This centralized allocation system ensures that places are assigned based on the preferences and scores of the applicants.
The growing demand for FP in Aragón underscores the significance of these studies for the economic and social development of the region, adapting to the needs of the local productive fabric and providing students with tools to enhance their employability.
