Zaragoza Cinema Shines with Announcers at the 2025 Fiestas del Pilar

Six professionals from the Zaragoza film industry will be the announcers for the Fiestas del Pilar 2025

Directors Javier Macipe, Pilar Palomero, and Paula Ortiz, along with costume designer Arantxa Ezquerro, filmmaker Blanca Torres, and actor Pepe Lorente, will take part in the opening announcement of the Pilar celebrations on October 4 from the balcony of the City Hall. This distinction recognizes the peak moment of recognition for Zaragoza talent in the national film industry, solidifying the city as an audiovisual reference.

The announcement will take place on Saturday October 4 in a choral format, where the six professionals will address more than 40,000 people gathered in the Plaza del Pilar. This moment will serve both to inaugurate the festivities and to pay tribute to the work and successes achieved by these Zaragoza creators in the national and international arenas.

The mayor Natalia Chueca emphasized «the consolidation of these brilliant professionals in the national and international landscape» and highlighted that «they are experiencing the best era in the history of Zaragoza as a cradle of filmmakers and audiovisual professionals». The mayor particularly appreciated that they have put their talent at the service of the city, incorporating corners, stories, and Zaragoza references into their most successful films.

Aragonese talent received 23 nominations for the Goya Awards in the latest edition, consolidating its presence on the most significant stage of national cinema. The directors have stood out with feature films such as Las Niñas, La Maternal, La Estrella Azul, De Tu Ventana a la Mía, La Novia, and La Virgen Roja, while Blanca Torres has excelled with the documentary Marisol, Llámame Pepa as her latest major success in the national circuit.

Zaragoza, a strategic city for the audiovisual industry

The City Council considers the audiovisual sector to be strategic due to its growth potential, supporting projects such as District 7 in the former Giesa as an example of municipal encouragement. The city thereby strengthens its ties with the film industry, connecting with the birth of the seventh art over 125 years ago and establishing itself at the forefront of the current audiovisual landscape.
