The solar car Stella Lux, developed by students from the Eindhoven University of Technology, has been incorporated into the permanent collection of Mobility City in Zaragoza, marking a milestone in sustainable mobility as the world’s first energy-positive family vehicle.
Features and Performance of the Stella Lux
The Stella Lux is recognized as the world’s first family car that generates more energy than it consumes, thanks to its integrated solar panels and aerodynamic design. This vehicle not only reaches a top speed of 125 km/h, but it also boasts an impressive range of up to 1,000 km, combining stored battery energy with direct solar capture. Additionally, it is equipped with the innovative «Solar Navigator,» a system that optimizes routes based on weather conditions to maximize energy efficiency.
The Stella Lux is displayed in the central walkway of Mobility City, a space designed by Zaha Hadid dedicated to promoting sustainable mobility. This model evolves from the original Stella, which won the World Solar Challenge 2012 in the Cruiser category. Since its opening two and a half years ago, Mobility City has received over 500,000 visitors, establishing itself as a benchmark in the dissemination of clean technologies and new forms of sustainable transportation.
