Aragón announces 133 extraordinary teaching positions due to a shortage of specialists
The Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Government of Aragón will launch an extraordinary call tomorrow, the 11th, to fill 133 teaching positions in Vocational Training, Compulsory Secondary Education, and Artistic Education. This measure addresses the shortage of specialists and the difficulties in completing the teaching staff after several weekly ordinary calls.
Details of the extraordinary call
The call will be published tomorrow on the Educaragón website, and interested parties will have until 8:00 a.m. on Friday to apply. The positions will be awarded on the same day, the 12th. After initially opening these contracts to more than 7,125 people on temporary lists, the Department is now extending the extraordinary call to graduates with a teaching master’s degree. Among these candidates are nearly 700 who trained in Aragonese classrooms last year during their master’s internship and who could not apply for the competitive examinations due to timing issues. The Department has already contacted various universities to inform their former students about this call.
Available positions by specialties
The 133 positions correspond to 36 specialties in Compulsory Secondary Education, Vocational Training, and Artistic Education distributed across the three provinces of Aragón. The specialties with the highest number of vacancies are: Computer Systems and Applications (29), Electronic Installations (20), Machining and Maintenance of Machines (13), Computer Science (12), Organization and Mechanical Manufacturing Projects (6), Electronic and Automatic Systems (6), Electronic Systems (4), and Mathematics (4). There are also positions offered in French (3), Welding (5), Technology (2), Philosophy (2), and artistic education specialties such as Organ, Trombone, Viola, Violin, Cello, Musical Language, and Ceramic Techniques, among others.
Complementary measures and training
If vacancies remain after this call, the Department of Education plans a new call next week, temporarily waiving the master’s requirement for those specialties that are difficult to cover. The General Director of Personnel, José María Cabello, explains that the right to education must take precedence over the access requirements for the teaching profession. Professionals who join through this route will receive pedagogical training from the Department, a measure that has already been communicated to the entire training network to pay special attention to candidates and educational centers.
During this academic year, teacher recruitment has reached historic highs, with 400 more teaching vacancies than the previous year and expectations of exceeding an average of 21,000 teaching salaries.
