Zaragoza Council Launches «New Musical Scenes» Concert Series at Santa Isabel de Portugal Church

The Zaragoza Provincial Council has taken a step forward in merging music and heritage with the launch of New Musical Scenarios (NEM), a cycle of concerts that will be held at the Church of Santa Isabel of Portugal. This event seeks to integrate music into spaces of artistic and architectural value, following the programming model of European cultural capitals.

A concert calendar for May

The cycle will take place during the four Thursdays in May, starting at 8:00 PM, with doors opening at 7:30 PM. Admission is free, but an invitation is required, available at Aragontickets.com, with a limit of five per person until full capacity is reached. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to enjoy concerts in a historic setting.

An innovative artistic proposal

Bruno Gimeno, programming technician for the Culture Service, highlighted that the artistic proposals include contemporary perspectives on jazz and its offshoots, exploring genres such as Nordic dub jazz, bossa nova, and folklore. Each performance promises a refined aesthetic experience and a deep musical sense, focusing on the exploration of new sound languages.

Highlighted concerts of the cycle

On May 7, Reykjavik606 from San Sebastián will open the cycle with «Resonances,» an ambient and future jazz project that combines synthesizers, saxophone, percussion, and piano to create hypnotic soundscapes. On May 14, the Aragonese artist Santiago Latorre will present his fusion of technology, light, and sound, accompanied by local wind musicians.

On May 21, Pedro Ricardo and Damián Botigué will present «A New Dawn,» an album that reinterprets Afrolatin rhythms, jazz, and folk, creating a dialogue between the traditions of Portugal, Argentina, and Galicia. Finally, on May 28, the Danish duo Bremer & McCoy will close the cycle with «Kosmos,» their sixth album, exploring dub, jazz, and Nordic sounds.
