The Government of Aragón has launched the TEA-FSE+ program, with a fund of 15 million euros until 2029, to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, announced at the CEIP Lucien Briet in Zaragoza.
TEA-FSE+ Program
The program, which will begin in the 2024-2025 school year, will operate in 74 educational centers and will have a team of 140 specialists in Speech and Language Therapy and Therapeutic Pedagogy. A total of 15 million euros will be allocated, with 40% co-financing from the European Social Fund Plus, to achieve several objectives:
- Strengthen the human and material resources available.
- Promote awareness of neurological diversity.
- Develop a new Enrollment Order for the 2026/2027 school year.
From 2018 to 2024, there has been a 300% increase in the number of students with ASD, rising from 906 to 2,337. These students represent 17.85% of the total number of students with special educational needs, reflecting a significant shift towards a more inclusive educational model.
In addition to the main program, work sessions have been organized with families and collaborations with entities such as TEADIR, Autism Aragón, and CERMI. The participation of the Specialized TEA Team and the Aragonese Center for Augmentative Communication has also been promoted, facilitating discussions among students, educators, and families to improve integration.
Tomasa Hernández, Regional Minister of Education, has reaffirmed the commitment to inclusive and equitable education. Ana Moracho, General Director of Educational Policy, has emphasized the importance of a comprehensive transformation of the school system. Additionally, Isabel Martín-Retortillo, responsible for European Funds, and María José Gil from the Ministry have shown their support for this initiative.
