The Aragonese Institute of Statistics (IAEST) has reported that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Aragon grew by 2.9% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, surpassing both the Spanish average and that of the eurozone.
In the first quarter of 2025, Aragon’s GDP experienced an increase of 0.2% compared to the last quarter of 2024, falling below the national growth of 0.6% but above the 0.3% of the eurozone.
Demand Components
Consumption and Public Spending
Household consumption in Aragon rose by 5.7%, exceeding the 3.5% growth at the national level. Public spending also recorded an increase of 3.7%, compared to 3.1% in Spain.
Investment and Construction
Investment in equipment showed robust growth of 9.3%, compared to the national rate of 8%. Construction, on the other hand, grew by 5.3%, more than double the growth of 2.2% observed in the rest of Spain.
Exports
Unlike the other components, exports in Aragon fell by 10.1%, in contrast to a national increase of 2.1%.
The primary sector led the growth with 5.8%, followed by construction with 4%, manufacturing with 3.7%, and market services with 2.8%. These growth rates are higher than the national averages in their respective sectors.
In conclusion, all productive sectors in Aragon demonstrated positive performance during the first quarter of 2025, with the primary sector standing out as the main driver of economic growth in the region.
