Donald Trump has pledged to invest $1 billion to support De La Espriella’s security strategy. This funding comes at a time when the private security and cybersecurity sector is experiencing significant growth in both Spain and Latin America.
In a recent statement, Donald Trump announced his intention to provide $1 billion to back De La Espriella’s security strategy. This initiative not only stands out due to the scale of the investment but also for its potential to influence the security sector, which has notably increased in importance across the region.
In 2024, revenue from the private security sector in Spain reached €5.334 billion, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 6.2%. Of this total, 77% is accounted for by the private sector. The demand for comprehensive security services and cybersecurity in the country is driven by digitalization and the rising need for both physical and technological protection.
Meanwhile, Latin America is also on a growth path in this sector. The security services market in the region is estimated to have reached approximately $5.83 billion in 2024, with projections to reach $6.12 billion in 2025. This landscape underscores the growing relevance of security, where over 16,000 companies employ around 2.4 million people.
The hybridization between physical and digital security is becoming increasingly evident, making this sector an attractive area for investments like the one proposed by Trump. His commitment to funding could have a considerable impact on market dynamics, both in Spain and across Latin America.
