The registered unemployment in Aragón fell in April by 1,355 people, representing a reduction of 2.72% compared to March and 3.89% compared to April 2025. This decrease reflects a positive trend in the labor market, partly driven by Holy Week and its effect on the service sector, although the decline has extended to all sectors and the three provinces of Aragón.
The decrease in unemployment in Aragón has been uniform across its three provinces. In Huesca, unemployment fell by 2.40% monthly and 2.71% annually. Teruel experienced a monthly reduction of 2% and an annual reduction of 2.09%. Meanwhile, Zaragoza recorded the largest decline, with a monthly decrease of 2.85% and an annual decline of 4.28%.
Sectoral Impact on the Reduction of Unemployment
The agricultural sector led the decline in unemployment with a 6.24% reduction, reflecting the influence of seasonal cycles. The construction sector also showed a significant reduction of 2.78%. The service sector, often propelled by events such as Holy Week, decreased by 2.72%. The industry sector and individuals with no previous employment also experienced decreases of 1.59% and 2.54%, respectively.
Job Creation and Future Outlook
The increase in Social Security affiliations compared to April 2025 confirms job creation in the three provinces: Huesca (2.51%), Teruel (0.28%), and Zaragoza (2.46%), despite a slight monthly reduction of 0.49% in Huesca. Beatriz Callén, director of Studies and Analysis at CEOE Aragón, emphasizes that «the decline in unemployment across all sectors and provinces, along with the increase in affiliations, confirms that companies in Aragón are creating jobs regardless of the seasonal component.»
However, Callén stresses that over 48,000 people remain unemployed and registered with the INAEM. Therefore, she considers it crucial to strengthen active employment policies to enhance adaptation to the needs of companies, both for these individuals and for new hires, as well as for vocations towards high-demand business activities.
