Registered unemployment in Aragón decreases by 6.09% annually in September
The registered unemployment in Aragón closed September 2025 with 47,824 people, reflecting a monthly decrease of 1.36% compared to August and a 6.09% annual decline. Data from the Public Employment Service indicate a trend of improvement in the Aragonese labor market.
The monthly drop in unemployment in Aragón amounted to 657 fewer individuals than in August, while the national reduction was 0.20%, reaching 2,421,665 registered unemployed. Annually, Aragón reduced unemployment by 3,099 people compared to September 2024, slightly exceeding the national average, which recorded a decline of 5.97%.
Among the surrounding communities of Aragón, all exhibited monthly decreases: La Rioja (-3.15%), País Vasco (-2.02%), Cataluña (-1.62%), Comunidad Valenciana (-0.92%), and Navarra (-0.04%).
Distribution by sectors and provinces
Monthly sectoral analysis: Agriculture was the only sector that saw an increase in unemployment, with 126 more individuals (7.47% monthly), while decreases occurred in industry (-155 people, -2.91%), construction (-52 people, -1.93%), and services (-587 people, -1.74%).
Provincial distribution: Zaragoza concentrated the largest reduction with 737 fewer unemployed individuals (-1.93% monthly), contrasting with slight increases in Huesca (+71 people, 1.13%) and Teruel (+9 people, 0.23%).
In the annual comparison, all provinces reduced unemployment: Huesca (-576 people, -8.28%), Teruel (-214 people, -5.16%), and Zaragoza (-2,309 people, -5.80%).
Hiring and social affiliation
Contract activity: September recorded 50,341 contracts in Aragón, representing a monthly increase of 47.70% and an annual rise of 8.83%. Of these, 18,157 were permanent (36.07%) and 32,184 temporary (63.93%). At the national level, 1,533,773 contracts were formalized.
Social Security affiliation: The number of affiliates in Aragón reached 628,215 individuals, with a monthly decrease of 0.64% but an annual growth of 2.15% (13,199 more affiliates). Spain recorded 21,697,665 affiliates, with monthly increases of 0.15% and an annual rise of 2.36%.
