Unemployment in Aragón rises 0.34% in September as summer hiring ends

Aragón ended September with 50,344 unemployed people, after adding 170 job seekers from the previous month. The increase was more moderate than in Spain as a whole, where registered unemployment rose 1% to reach 2,379,505 people.

The monthly trend was linked to the end of the hiring season in activities such as agriculture. Unemployment in this sector increased 10.11% in September. Unemployment also rose among people classified as Without Previous Employment, posting a monthly increase of 3.19%, associated with new entrants into the labor market.

On a year-over-year basis, people without previous employment accounted for the largest increase in unemployment, at 31.28%. Agriculture followed, where the number of unemployed people rose 9.44% from the same period a year earlier.

Social Security enrollment also showed differing trends by province. Despite those monthly declines, enrollment increased year over year in all three provinces.

Social Security enrollment in Aragón rises 3.70% year over year to 651,476 people

Social Security enrollment in Aragón edged down 0.11% in September from August. However, the year-over-year balance remained positive: the region had 23,261 more registered workers than in September 2025, a gain of 3.70%, bringing the total to 651,476 people.

CEOE Aragón said the annual figure reflects companies’ ability to create jobs despite an environment marked by energy and raw-material costs, as well as uncertainty in international markets. The business association called for stronger training and reskilling programs to align the profiles of unemployed people and new workers with companies’ needs.

The employers’ association also called for coordinated employment, housing and mobility policies to attract and retain talent across the three provinces, support generational renewal and make it easier to fill vacancies. It also advocated an environment of stability and confidence, along with lower business costs to spur investment and sustained job creation.
