Zaragoza Hosts the National Debate Tournament The Wave from April 16 to 18

The Wave Zaragoza is preparing to welcome students from all over Spain to the National Debate Tournament The Wave by Dicentis, which will take place from April 16 to 18, 2026. This event aims to enhance critical thinking and effective communication skills among secondary education youth.

A nationally relevant educational event

The tournament has established itself as one of the most important events in the educational field at the national level. Participants will debate topics that integrate the current technological context, fostering constructive dialogue and respect for the diversity of ideas. This initiative not only seeks to improve students’ public speaking skills but also their ability to argue effectively.

The premise of the debate, with a strong technological component, invites young people to reflect on the impact of technology on today’s society. This approach is not only relevant but necessary in an increasingly digitized world.

Participation and tournament structure

A total of 24 teams from different educational institutions in Spain, with students between the ages of 14 and 18, will compete in this tournament. Each team will have the opportunity to participate in at least four debates before the elimination rounds, which include the Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Grand Final.

The event will feature 30 judges, all of whom are experts in debate and public speaking with recognized prestige at the national level. Their experience guarantees fair and professional judging, ensuring that the tournament maintains a high standard of quality.

Organization and logistics

The Cardenal Xavierre FESD school in Zaragoza will be the official venue for the event. This institution, with more than 80 years of history, provides an ideal setting for holding the tournament. Furthermore, participants will have the opportunity to visit The Wave, enriching their experience in Zaragoza.

The tournament is organized by Dicentis, and registrations are still open for teams interested in participating. This event promises to be an excellent platform for young people to develop essential skills for their academic and professional future.
