ITA Celebrates International Day for Young Women in Science on February 11

The Technological Institute of Aragon (ITA) will host a special event for youth on February 11 in celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Under the title «We are looking for the scientists and makers of the future,» this initiative aims to inspire new generations through science and technology.

Encouraging STEAM Careers Among Young People

The event is designed to capture the interest of primary and secondary school children, organized into two age groups: from 8 to 11 years and from 12 to 16 years. The main objective is to bring science and technology closer to young people through hands-on experiments and interactive activities. With this approach, ITA aims to spark interest in the STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

The event will begin at 5:00 PM with a welcome address by Esther Borao, director of ITA, who will present the day’s activities. At 5:30 PM, attendees will participate in a Kahoot titled «Discovering Female Scientists,» designed to highlight the role of women in science.

Interactive Activities and Innovative Closing

One of the most anticipated activities is the scientific experiment scavenger hunt, scheduled for 5:45 PM. During this activity, participants will get hands-on experience with scientific concepts in a fun and educational manner. The goal is for children to not only learn but also enjoy the process of discovery.

The day will culminate in a final presentation at 7:15 PM, where a robotic dog will perform a special demonstration. This innovative closing aims to leave a lasting impression on the young audience, showcasing the practical and exciting applications of technology.

Through this initiative, ITA reaffirms its commitment to education and the promotion of scientific careers among new generations, thus contributing to a more diverse and inclusive future in the scientific and technological fields.
