The Ejea de los Caballeros Art and Exhibition Center hosts a retrospective exhibition of the Zaragoza-based graphic artist Sergio Aragón. With a total of 80 works, this exhibition is presented as the most comprehensive to date of his work, highlighting the series «Paralaje,» completed in 2024.
A look at the most emblematic series
The exhibition is structured around three main series by Aragón: «Paralaje» (2024), «Caza Humana» (2023), and «Una Danza Macabra» (2016–2025). «Caza Humana» was awarded the Accésit of the Santa Isabel Art Prize, while «Una Danza Macabra» received the Extraordinary Prize of the Plastic Arts and Design Education of Aragón and the National Prize from the Ministry of Culture. The works explore themes such as violence, death, and individualism, using the contrast between black and white to enhance their message.
Exploration of printmaking techniques
The exhibition stands out for its focus on relief printing on linoleum, known as linography. In addition, more than a dozen original plates are displayed alongside preparatory drawings, allowing visitors to appreciate Aragón’s creative process. Other techniques featured include lithography, embossing, and photogravure, showcasing the artist’s versatility in the use of printmaking.
The legacy of Sergio Aragón
Sergio Aragón Belmonte, born in Zaragoza in 1975, is a prominent printmaker trained at the School of Arts of Zaragoza. His achievements include the Extraordinary Prize of the Plastic Arts and Design Education of Aragón and the National Prize of Professional Artistic Education from the Ministry of Education and Culture for his work «Una Danza Macabra.» He has also been awarded an Honorable Mention at the XIX Graphic Art Contest for Young Creators of the National Engraving and the Accésit at the XXXIV Santa Isabel Art Prize.
The exhibition at the Ejea Art and Exhibition Center, owned by the Zaragoza Provincial Council, is open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. With over 2,000 square meters, the center offers an ideal space to immerse oneself in Aragón’s creative world.
