The Zaragoza Provincial Council has launched a new call for grants totaling €238,000 to promote the organization of film festivals in the province, increasing the budget by 70% compared to the previous year. This initiative aims to stimulate the cinematic culture in the region, with an application deadline of April 30, 2026.
Beneficiaries and Eligibility Criteria
The grants are targeted at the municipalities of the province of Zaragoza, excluding the capital, and at non-profit associations located in municipalities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants. To qualify for these subsidies, entities must be officially registered and have the legal representative certificate issued by the National Mint and Stamp Factory.
The festivals must consist of a set of activities that prioritize the programming, promotion, and exhibition of cinema, including short films, documentaries, and feature films. These events must take place between November 8, 2025 and November 8, 2026, ensuring that they are not part of the regular programming of any cultural space.
Funding Areas and Objectives
The subsidies can cover a wide range of expenses, such as fees and salaries of artists, copyright, accommodation, technical services, and event promotion, among others. This flexibility in funding allows organizers to address various logistical and creative aspects, ensuring the success of the festivals.
Charo Lázaro, deputy delegate for Culture of the DPZ, emphasizes that the main objective of these grants is to promote film festivals in rural areas, facilitating access to culture and disseminating the seventh art in the towns of the province.
