The Government of Aragon has announced the start of the enrollment process for the 2026/2027 academic year, which will begin on April 16. Aragonese families will have one week to submit their applications for places in various educational levels, from Early Childhood Education to Compulsory Secondary Education. This year, the incorporation of 8,669 new three-year-old students is expected, a figure that reflects a decrease of 316 students compared to the previous year.
Application Process and Key Dates
School applications must be submitted electronically through the official website of the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports of Aragon. The period for this process will be from 9:00 AM on April 16 to 2:00 PM on April 22. To facilitate this process, a helpline (876 03 67 64) and in-person assistance points will be available in the cities of Zaragoza, Huesca, and Teruel.
Expansion of Educational Offerings
Despite the demographic decline, Aragon has decided to increase its educational offerings. 16 new TEA classrooms, 12 Special Education classrooms, and four classrooms for early enrollment of two-year-old children will be opened. Additionally, there are plans to reduce student-to-teacher ratios and expand groups, especially in the first year of Early Childhood Education, to improve the quality of teaching.
Admission Criteria and Territorial Distribution
The admission process maintains established criteria, such as a single enrollment space with proximity rings, allowing up to 10 choices of educational institutions. Family and workplace addresses will be equated to facilitate family reconciliation. It is estimated that applications will be distributed among 6,409 students in Zaragoza, 1,400 in Huesca, and 860 in Teruel.
The resolution calendar for the admission process establishes that the ranked lists will be published on May 4. The public lottery to resolve ties will take place on May 8, and the provisional lists will be announced on May 11, with the final lists published on May 15. Enrollment for Early Childhood, the first cycle of Primary Education, and Special Education will take place from May 26 to June 1, while for second to sixth grades of Primary Education and ESO, it will be from June 19 to 25.
