Zaragoza Provincial Council Allocates 800,000 Euros to 14 Municipalities

The Zaragoza Provincial Council allocates 800,000 euros to 14 municipalities for residences and day centers

The Zaragoza Provincial Council has approved a plan with 800,000 euros that will benefit 14 municipalities in the province for the maintenance and improvement of their residences and day centers directly managed by the municipality. The subsidies are distributed between current expenditures and investments, allocating 400,000 euros to each line of funding.

Benefited municipalities and distribution of aid

The municipalities that will receive these subsidies are Alfajarín, Añón de Moncayo, Asín, Biota, Calatayud, Daroca, Fabara, La Muela, Magallón, Orés, Tobed, Torres de Berrellén, Villamayor de Gállego, and Zuera. The plan includes two types of aid: one aimed at financing current expenses and another for investments and improvements in facilities.

Main allocations by municipality:

  • Biota, Magallón, and Orés received the highest amounts with 58,404, 58,317, and 58,317 euros respectively.
  • La Muela obtained 58,668 euros, most of which (42,000) was allocated to current expenses.
  • Calatayud will receive 58,317 euros, including 34,317 euros for the replacement of the elevator and loading platform.
  • Tobed was allocated exclusively to current expenses with 50,000 euros.
  • Zuera received the smallest allocation with 29,081 euros.

Justification of the program

Mercedes Trébol, deputy delegate of Social Welfare, highlighted the strategic importance of these centers in facilitating «quality aging» and allowing the elderly to «stay in their homes and in their villages.» According to her statements, these facilities provide «close attention, local support networks, and participation opportunities,» key elements for «reducing feelings of loneliness and dependence.»

The institutional head emphasized that keeping the elderly «active and connected to village life» allows for the utilization of «their experience and know-how,» which is why the Provincial Council «clearly bets on their well-being by launching subsidy lines such as this plan.»

The improvements contemplated include equipment, facility conditioning, security systems, fire prevention, elevator replacement, air conditioning installation, ramp construction, rehabilitation room works, and painting in various areas of the centers.
