Discover the Aragonese Pyrenees and its magnificent network of mountain refuges

If you are a climber, mountaineer or simply a mountain lover, you are interested in knowing the refuges offered by Aragon in the network of refuges promoted by the FAM (Aragonese Federation of Mountaineering). We show you some of them.

La Renclusa Hut

The Renclusa hut is one of the most important places for mountaineers and is guarded all year round. It is over 100 years old, but it does not lack the necessary services: running water, showers and toilets, hot water, bar and catering service, blankets, guide service, telephone and telecommunication system for the rescue. It has 92 places. It is located in the Benasque valley, at the foot of the Maladetas massif and the Aneto peak (the highest peak in the Pyrenees).

From here you can do the following trekking routes in Benasque, climbing one of these peaks: Aneto, Maladetas, Alba, Paderna, Mulleres, Salvaguardia.

The hikes you can do are: Ballibierna, Plan de L’Artiga, Valle de Alba, Valle de Cregüeña, Salenques.

Other activities: It is an ideal place for ski-mountaineering, since practically all the ascents can be done on skis and the altitude of the massif maintains the snow cover until well into spring. Climbing and mountaineering: there are many routes and itineraries of all difficulties.

Casa de Piedra (House of Stone)

In the Balneario de Panticosa we find the Casa de Piedra refuge, which is also guarded all year round. It is a traditional construction, managed by the FAM, with 96 beds in rooms with shower and bathroom.
ACTIVITIES

Hiking: GR 11 Senda Pirenaica.

Ascents: Argualas, Arnales, Garmo Negro, Infiernos, Pondiellos, Baziás, Batanes…

Other activities: Cross-country skiing in the thermal baths. Ideal place for ski mountaineering. Proximity to the Sierra Telera, which has many corridors and routes for winter climbing.
Services: running water, showers and toilets, bar, dining room, lockers, blankets, first aid kit, public telephone, kitchen facilities.

Without a doubt, the possibility of coming here by car and booking accommodation is a huge attraction to then comfortably undertake all kinds of activities. You can climb peaks such as Garmo Negro or El Infiernos. You can follow the GR-11 and reach the Ibones Azules or the Brazatos. Or in winter you can enjoy the cross-country skiing route.

Cabaña del Cap de Llauset

The Cap de Llauset hut is located in the eastern part of the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park. To reach it, you have to walk from the village of Aneto to the Llauset reservoir and follow the GR-11 trail that crosses the entire mountain range.

The surroundings of the Cap de Llauset refuge offer a multitude of activities related to the world of mountaineering, and its enclave is strategic for the realization of these activities, offering this refuge as a reference facility either as a base for starting or finishing the activity, or for carrying out training courses, or as an information point, in a protected environment integrated into the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park

Ángel Orús Refuge

This refuge, with 96 places and guarded all year round, is located in the Aigüeta de Grist valley, at the foot of the Aguja del Forcau. It was completely remodeled between 1999 and 2000. Once there, you can enjoy a terrace with fantastic views of the valley. This refuge was built around the old Forcau refuge, but the interior remains intact. Today, the old Forcau is a modern building with all the comforts necessary to enjoy a pleasant stay.
The Angel Orús has been ISO 14001 certified since October 2003, a pioneering experience in Spain and the Pyrenees in the field of mountain refuges, where it has committed itself to a model of environmental management with the installation of renewable energy sources, the regular practice of selective waste collection and environmental awareness campaigns.

By car from Eriste/Grist along the trail to the Pleta de l’Estallo (parking area).
From there, 1 h. 30′ to the refuge.
From there you can access the GR 11 Senda Pirenaica. It is also possible to make three crossings: to Chistau, Estós and the Bal. And another one that connects three refuges (Estós-Biadós-Ángel Orús).
Services offered: running water, showers and toilets, hot water, bar, food service, blankets, first aid kit, lockers, rest shoes, multipurpose room.

The ascents that can be approached from this refuge are the following: Forqueta, Tucón Royo, Espadas, Llardana/Posets, Eriste/Bagüeñolas, Es Corbets.
Other activities: ski mountaineering.

Estós Hostel

This 112-place refuge, like the previous ones, is guarded all year round and is located at an altitude of 1,895 m, in the heart of the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, more precisely in the Estós Valley, one of the most charismatic places in the Pyrenees, where you can rest in one of the first places to have a mountain refuge.
The Estós Valley is a wide valley, suitable for everyone, where there are vast meadows that can be used for cattle, lush forests, high mountains, glaciers, lakes and steep peaks.
