The third edition of Caja de cine will bring Woody Allen to Zaragoza’s Patio de la Infanta for five screenings between September and January. The series, free to attend with prior registration, will open on Monday, September 7, at 6:30 p.m. with Midnight in Paris.
Woody Allen headlines the new edition of Caja de cine in Zaragoza
Fundación Ibercaja is dedicating its Caja de cine series to the filmography of Woody Allen, a director whose work blends comedy and drama with stories about emotions and personal relationships. The screenings will be held at the Patio de la Infanta and hosted by critic Enrique Abenia, who will introduce and discuss each feature film.
The program brings together five titles made at different stages of the New York filmmaker’s career. Admission will be free, although prior registration through Fundación Ibercaja’s website will be required.
Schedule for the five Woody Allen films
The series will begin on September 7 with Midnight in Paris, an Academy Award winner for Best Original Screenplay that travels to 1920s Paris through references to literature, art, and nostalgia. Owen Wilson, Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, Adrien Brody, and Kathy Bates star in this romantic, luminous work.
The second screening, scheduled for October 2, will feature Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The film offers Allen’s take on Barcelona in a story of art, passion, unexpected encounters, and romantic conflicts starring Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz, and Scarlett Johansson.
On November 13, the series will present Cassandra’s Dream, a drama with thriller elements centered on ambition, guilt, family ties, and the consequences of decisions capable of changing a life. The series will continue on December 9 with Wonder Wheel, set in 1950s Coney Island and marked by passion, jealousy, betrayal, and unfulfilled dreams.
The program will conclude on January 18 with Coup de Chance, the most recent Woody Allen film included in the series. Filmed entirely in French, this romantic comedy returns to Paris to explore how chance can transform a life in an instant.
