IAF Announces €400,000 in Grants for Aragonese SMEs in Defense, Security and Dual-Use Technologies

The Aragon Institute for Development has launched €400,000 in grants to help small and medium-sized companies in Aragon strengthen their presence in the defense, security, and dual-use technology industries. The grants, ranging from €5,000 to €30,000 per company, may be applied for until September 25.

Grants of up to €30,000 for Aragon SMEs in defense and dual-use technologies

The Aragón regional government’s call for applications, managed through the Aragon Institute for Development (IAF) and published in the Official Gazette of Aragon, seeks to strengthen companies’ market positioning and promotion in a field encompassing defense, security, and dual-use technology activities.

The grants are aimed at small and medium-sized businesses in sectors including manufacturing, telecommunications, computer programming, consulting, and certain health care and social services activities. Total funding amounts to €400,000.

Hub Defensa Aragón underpins the industrial and technology strategy

The grant program is part of the Hub Defensa Aragón strategy, a public-private initiative designed to strengthen the region’s industrial and technological capabilities. The approach is built on Aragon’s position as an industrial and technology hub.

The Hub operates on two fronts: strengthening companies’ production and technological capabilities, and increasing the visibility of those capabilities to facilitate new business opportunities. The funding call therefore complements other training, advisory, and promotional initiatives carried out during 2025 and 2026.

Training, certification, and international exposure for Aragon companies

Programs promoted by the IAF include IAF Diverdef, aimed at SMEs with dual-use potential. It also includes IAF Growth, designed to facilitate entry into new markets for companies already operating in defense, security, and dual-use technologies.

The IAF Certificación y Homologación program supports companies in areas including defense registries, certifications, and quality systems. These tools are intended to improve companies’ ability to meet the sector’s specific requirements.

The strategy also includes corporate participation in trade fairs, events, and trade missions, with a presence at Feindef 2025 and Eurosatory 2026, as well as Infodays held in Brussels and Madrid. These initiatives, carried out jointly with AREX, the IAF, and the Directorate General for Industry, aim to connect Aragon companies with leading firms, potential customers, and new markets.
