Estadilla Receives Two New Tourism Awards in Aragon

Estadilla has gained two new tourism distinctions in Aragón: its Living Nativity Scene has been declared an Activity of Tourist Interest, while the Carrodilla Pilgrimage has been named a Festival of Tourist Interest in Aragón. The orders have already been published in the Official Gazette of Aragón.

Estadilla’s Living Nativity Scene joins Aragón’s recognized tourist activities

The Estadilla Living Nativity Scene, held since Christmas 2009, has been granted the status of an Activity of Tourist Interest in Aragón. It is the 17th event to receive this distinction in the region.

The performance covers more than 4,500 square meters of the old town and features more than 80 scenes. Nearly 250 people take part in a production that recreates trades, scenes, and elements linked to the town’s local identity.

The event, which involves the local association L’Argareta, attracts more than 5,000 visitors each year. The distinction places the Living Nativity Scene alongside other recognized activities, such as the Cinca River canoe descent, declared in 2008, and the Arguis Winter Gathering, added that same summer.

The Carrodilla Pilgrimage receives Festival of Tourist Interest status

The Carrodilla Pilgrimage becomes Aragón’s 110th Festival of Tourist Interest. The celebration takes place each year on Friday of Sorrows at the Carrodilla sanctuary and continues a tradition documented since 1253.

The pilgrimage is part of Estadilla’s cultural and religious life and retains links to the winemaking tradition of Mendoza, Argentina, which has historic ties to the town in Huesca province.

The latest festivals added to this register include Holy Week in Morata de Jalón, declared in June; Guadalaviar’s horseback bull run, in May; and Holy Week in Épila, in March 2026.
