Leading international professionals participate in ESDA’s Design Week

The aim of the week is to promote and develop the students' work through contact with renowned professionals. Ezio Manzini and Nizos Souleles will be the focus of the Social Design Days, which will take place on May 11 and 12.

The Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of the Government of Aragon, Felipe Faci, attended this morning the opening of the events organized by the School of Design of Aragon on the occasion of the Zaragoza Design Week. With the aim of bringing students closer to the reality of design through professionals with a high recognition and with a thematic axis that articulates the different events, the School of Design of Aragon (ESDA) has organized one more year the XVII PROYECTA Conference on the Practice of Design, which are articulated through the same thematic axis that, on this occasion, is ‘The End of…. The Beginning of…’. This initiative will take place on May 8 and 9.

On Wednesday, May 10, a day of Mentoring is planned, in which students will visit different design studios in the city.The Minister of Education, Felipe Faci, stressed “the importance of promoting actions and events that allow students direct contact with renowned speakers who contribute to offer a different and expanded view of the issues addressed at school and at the same time, allow them to complete their training and open their eyes to new creative possibilities.”

Design Week will be completed, on May 11 and 12, with the celebration of the II SOCIAL DESIGN DAYS. Under the slogan ‘Design for social innovation and sustainability. Education in social design’, Ezio Manzini and Nizos Souleles will give lectures on ‘Proximity and Citizens: A design scenario for the ecological transition’ and ‘Formulation of the ENCARGO: In pursuit of the City of Care’. The Escuela Superior de Diseño de AragónThe Escuela Superior de Diseño de Aragón (ESDA) is a public service center that trains design professionals to become active agents in the development of social, cultural or business improvements through this discipline.

ESDA places special emphasis on projects of social content that bring students closer to a reality where design has much to contribute and that are a reference in the formation of design thinking, research and critical capacity.the school works from practical methodologies that develop the creative activity of students by inserting them in real and collaborative projects. For this, it is essential the role of entities, institutions and companies in the environment, which provide added value in the training process of students.
