350 Teachers Attend 19th Innovation Conference in Zaragoza

350 university faculty members, around 100 teachers from pre-university levels, and university and vocational training students are taking part in the 19th Teaching Innovation and Educational Research Conference at the University of Zaragoza, an event linking classrooms across Aragón with university research.

Teaching Innovation Conference brings together universities and schools in Zaragoza

The Assembly Hall of the University of Zaragoza is hosting the 19th Teaching Innovation and Educational Research Conference on Wednesday and Thursday under the theme A critical perspective on the academic and social impact of university teaching innovation. Over two days, the forum brings together educators from different levels to examine the reach of new methodologies in academic and social settings.

The opening ceremony was attended by the University of Zaragoza’s vice rector for Academic Policy, Luis Morellón; the director of the Center for Innovation, Training and Research in Education Sciences, Jacobo Cano; and the director general for Educational Policy, Planning, Equity and Training at the Government of Aragón, José Luis Ferrando.

In addition to university faculty and teachers from schools across Aragón, the conference includes university students and students enrolled in vocational training programs. The event creates a shared forum across educational levels, with teacher training, equity and the practical application of innovation at the heart of the debate.

Collaboration between DGA and UNIZAR drives educational research projects

Ferrando highlighted the relationship between the Department of Education, Science and Universities and the University of Zaragoza, including joint work with both the Vice Rectorship for Academic Policy and the Vice Rectorship for Digital Strategy and Artificial Intelligence.

This cooperation is reflected in the conference program through the presentation of introductory research posters prepared by faculty from UNIZAR and teachers from educational levels below university. The exchange is intended to bring the university’s latest knowledge to schools while also incorporating into the university the needs emerging from classrooms.

The head of Educational Policy argued that innovation must place students at the center of learning. In that regard, he said innovation does not mean multiplying initiatives, but rather developing them with purpose, direction and a clearly defined roadmap.

Aragón advocates evidence- and results-based educational innovation

The Department of Education promotes innovation linked to research and aimed at achieving a real, measurable and transformative impact in classrooms. The participation of teachers from all educational levels reinforces, according to Ferrando, an approach grounded in evidence and results.

The 19th Teaching Innovation and Educational Research Conference thus strengthens its role as a meeting point between the University of Zaragoza and educational institutions across Aragón to discuss how innovation can be brought into the day-to-day practice of the education system.
