Rincón highlights biosecurity and circular economy during visit to SecAnim
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food, Javier Rincón, visited the facilities of SecAnim in Muel (Zaragoza), a company specialized in the treatment and valorization of animal by-products. The visit served to emphasize the importance of animal biosecurity and the principles of circular economy in this type of industrial facilities.
SecAnim, part of the Saria Group, operates with a workforce of 66 people distributed across its centers in Zuera, Zaragoza, and Muel. The company specializes in the collection, treatment, and valorization of animal by-products not intended for human consumption, with an annual production capacity of 183,000 tons in animal waste treatments to convert them into reusable raw materials.
The facilities transform animal waste into new resources such as oils or category 2 meals, considered one of the products with the highest concentration of organic fertilizer available on the market. These processes contribute to completing the circular economy, biosecurity, and environmental management. The volume of management of this type of waste at the plant has increased by 15.3% in the last three years.
During the visit, Javier Rincón emphasized that «the collection routes with epidemiological criteria, the productive capacity, and the proprietary cleaning and disinfection systems make these types of plants an example of efficiency and responsibility.» The minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food of the Government of Aragon to promote industrial projects that focus on innovation, sustainability, and transformation, contributing to reducing environmental impact and increasing the competitiveness of Aragonese agriculture and livestock.
