Aragón Strengthens Its Agri-Food Leadership: Stone Fruit Exceeds 3.784 Billion Euros and Sets Sights on 2025 Record

Aragón continues to consolidate its position as one of the main agro-food powers in Europe in the cultivation and export of stone fruit. In 2024, the region generated more than 3.784 billion euros through this activity, representing 28% of the total agricultural production in Aragón, and a total harvest of between 600,000 and 700,000 tons is projected for 2025.

The data for 2024 highlight a positive campaign thanks to favorable water conditions, although there was a slight delay in harvesting due to spring rains. Peaches emerged as the leading product with 273,535 tons, marking an increase of nearly 40% compared to the average of the last five years. Apricots also recorded a significant rise with 155,567 tons. In contrast, nectarines showed a slight decline of 4.15%, with 183,006 tons produced. Plums reached a production of 135,749 tons, while peaches and pavías also recorded increases, although without specific public figures.

For 2025, forecasts anticipate an approximate production of 190,000 tons of peaches and a total volume of between 600,000 and 700,000 tons of stone fruit, with peaches and pavías again taking the lead. Stability or moderate growth is expected for paraguayo, pavía, apricot, and plum, subject to climatic conditions and market adjustments.

In 2023, Aragón was already distinguished by producing more than 40% of the national cherry output and having 11,368 hectares dedicated to peaches —28% of the Spanish surface area—. That year, the country reached 1.76 million tons of stone fruit, driven by a 70% increase in nectarines and a 48.2% increase in peaches compared to 2022.

Opportunities for International Investors

Beyond volumes, Aragón offers advanced logistical infrastructure, established cooperative networks, and a focus on sustainability, digitalization, and traceability. Its production not only efficiently supplies the European market but also encourages strategic alliances in agricultural technology, post-harvest conservation, and food innovation.
