The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food of Aragón has approved Order AGA/1118/2025 of August 26, published in the Official Bulletin of Aragón (BOA), which calls for aid for the transformation, marketing, and development of agri-food companies during 2026. This call for applications, endowed with 18.57 million euros, is part of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2023-2027 and aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the Aragonese agri-food sector.
The financing of 18.57 million euros is distributed over three fiscal years and comes from various sources: 7.9 million euros from the Government of Aragón, another 7.9 million euros from European FEADER funds, and 2.6 million euros from the Ministry of Agriculture. The councilor Javier Rincón has highlighted that «almost 8 million comes directly from the Government of Aragón’s own funds,» demonstrating the regional commitment to the agri-food industry beyond European or ministerial funds.
Conditions and Characteristics of the Call
The beneficiaries of this aid will be owners of agri-food industries located in Aragón. The eligible areas include investments in transformation and marketing, process improvement, digitalization, marketing, market opening, differentiated quality, environmental and social sustainability, and the incorporation of renewable energies. The maximum amount per project is set at 1 million euros, and the call allows for the possibility of advance payments of up to 50% of the aid granted to facilitate the financing of investments.
Economic Importance of the Sector
The agri-food industry, along with the rest of the primary sector, represents almost 15% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Autonomous Community and constitutes the main economic engine in 23 of the 33 comarcas in Aragón. In 2024, Aragonese agri-food industries exported products worth 3.713 billion euros, recording a growth of 5% compared to the previous year. This new line of aid continues the commitment initiated in 2025, which amounted to over 16 million euros in aid and boosted dozens of agri-food projects throughout Aragón within a three-year plan.
