The Government of Aragón and Binter announced on June 10, 2025, the doubling of flight frequencies between Zaragoza and the Canary Islands, reaching eight weekly connections starting June 30. David Sánchez Fraile and Samuel Ferrera led the announcement, highlighting its importance for tourism and the local economy.
The new flight connections include flights to Tenerife Norte on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and to Gran Canaria on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Additionally, a double frequency has been established on Mondays, with one flight to each archipelago.
David Sánchez Fraile emphasized that the initiative will strengthen cultural and economic ties between both territories and is a preliminary step toward expanding destinations from Zaragoza. Samuel Ferrera from Binter commented on the contribution to the de-seasonalization and efficiency of the airport.
A significant increase in seat supply is expected, with more than 100,000 annually, representing a 66% increase compared to the previous year. This increase will strengthen the bilateral tourism promotion agreement and benefit more than 100 Canary Island families residing in Aragón, as well as military personnel.
The project has the support of a working group composed of the Government of Aragón, the City Council of Zaragoza, and Aena. Furthermore, an Embraer E195-E2 aircraft has been named «Zaragoza» as part of the international promotion strategy.
