Participation of APL in the European Conference
The Aragonese public company played a leading role in the event that brought together dozens of freight operators, terminal managers, companies, railway lines, and professional associations from across the continent. The attendees used the success of Plaza as an example in several of their speeches during the intense day dedicated to discussing the main challenges facing a sector subject to international circumstances and regulations.
Railway Projects Presented by APL
Javier Álvarez, Director of Intermodality at APL, presented the projects of the Government of Aragon for the public platform network, particularly focusing on the railway transport approach. Álvarez announced the completion of the first phase of the Teruel platform, with an investment of 16 million euros, which will enable connection with the Mediterranean. He also highlighted the future Zaragoza-Algeciras rail highway, which will transform the Aragonese capital into an essential hub for European transport and its connection to Africa.
Luis Vicente Moreno, Director of Logistics Services at Adif, confirmed that the Zaragoza-Algeciras highway will be completed in May 2027, starting with the Zaragoza-Madrid segment. The General Secretary of Land Transport at the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Rocío Báguena, who inaugurated the conference, described this infrastructure as «essential» for railway development and defined multimodality as «a requirement» for competitiveness in a sector that employs 218,000 companies and one million workers in Spain, representing 2.7% of the national GDP.
